I’m not the most crafty person in the world but I do enjoy making a few little things here & there! I have heard tons of people talking about all the fun things they can do with paint swatches from the store (Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart) and I thought I would make a little garland to hang around the house. Okay, now here is my disclaimer: I am a very neutral decorator. So I usually decorate for Christmas with white, gold, and silver! That’s it, that’s my theme. But now with my baby getting older I feel that I need to make it more traditional Christmas Colors with red & green popping everywhere! I remember when I was a kid my mom always went above and beyond to decorate and it was always so festive! I want the same for my kids. How boring would white, gold, and silver be for them? Poor things. So I have added plenty of color this year with the garland to top it off!
I am going to list step-by-step what I did but it’s also VERY easy! As far as paint swatches go, I grabbed mine from Home Depot. I asked the lady behind the paint desk if I was allowed to take a few for a craft and she said of course! take all you want! So if you are worried about them caring or being annoyed, THEY ARENT, they support our crafting!
Here is what you need:
Paint Swatches – in the colors you want (I used Ralph Lauren & got 2 punches out of each swatch)
Paper Punch – in the shape you wish. You could do snow flakes, Christmas Trees, I choose circles so I can use it again.
String
Scissors
Tape
Hot Glue Gun
Step One: Punch out all your shapes
Step Two: Space them out and put a dot of hot glue on each punch. Then attach the string. Note: if you are going to be hanging it on a mirror you will want to glue a punch to each side. Or else you will see the back of you punch in the mirrors refection. You can see what I’m talking about in the picture below
Step Three: You’re finished! It’s now time to hang! Be careful, it will tangle!
Final Product! So easy right? And you can fold them up & keep them for next year!
